"The Third Man" is a cult movie and door opener to Vienna's post-war history. The THIRD MAN MUSEUM is THE place to go for film fans and people interested in history. We show more than 3,000 original exhibits and are the only museum in the world dedicated to only one movie.
The film was shot in Vienna but enjoys its great popularity not with the locals but rather with an international audience. So the THIRD MAN MUSEUM depends on travellers. Tourism will recover earliest in autumn or even only next year. Until then, visitors will stay away but rent and bills are to pay.
We want to get the museum over the crisis into the next year. Then, under normal circumstances, we will be able to run the museum all on our own again as we proved in the past.
Dear friends of the Third Man Museum, culture and film lovers, dear fans of Vienna: Please support us!
It would mean a big loss for film lovers and Vienna's lively culture to shut down the Third Man Museum only because of the Corona crisis. We want to show our unique project also in the future and keep the iconic film "The Third Man" alive.
Every cent will be used to pay the rent, electricity, gas, fees for our assistants and operating costs which are necessary to run the museum in 2020 even with a very low number of visitors.
An amount of 24,000 euros would ensure the operation until Christmas. And then, let's hope people will be able (and in the mood) to travel again!
