What is this project all about?

The Magical Circus Tour offers a Weekly circus pedagogical experience in each of the 4 cities (Lviv, Stryj, Drohobyd, Stebnyk) as an introduction to The Circus Art through The Circus Lab, with daily pedagogic activities in preparation to The Circus Show where the community has an active participation in the Grand Finale.

The Circus Tent formula offers a Weekly Experience as an introduction to The Circus Art through the Academy of Wonders. Under the magical roof of the circus tent the children can feel free to dream and play together, inspired by the beauty of Circus. Weekly activities include: Circus Workshop – pedagogical activities for smaller groups of kids, Circus Animation – circle games, try out disciplines, face paint, bubbles. Circus Training is provided by our talented cast of young students from The Kyiv Municipal Academy of Variety and Circus Arts. At the end of the week, The Circus Show is our empowering community engagement strategy to inspire our audience to participate in the Grand Finale of the show. Combining elements of the classic circus, dance, music, theatre and improvisation, the show is developed through the experience of the Circus Tour in a creative dialogue with the students.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

Taking inspiration from the traditional circus art that traveled from town to town, the Mobile Circus for Peace aim is to provide emotional relief to the local communities in Western Ukraine with the 2023 Summer Tour

In times of war, children are among the most vulnerable members of society. The trauma and stress of living in a war zone can have a profound impact on their mental and emotional well-being. In such a situation, our Circus can provide much-needed relief and respite from the harsh realities of war. During our previous mission in Ukraine last year, Mobile Circus for Peace offered children a sense of hope and optimism that showed them that even in the midst of adversity, there is still beauty and wonder in the world.

As one of the safer regions, Lviv Oblast also hosted a record number of internally displaced people (IDPs). According to the Lviv Regional State Administration, Lviv Oblast currently hosts around 250,000 IDPs, and that up to 600,000 IDPs have been staying in Lviv Oblast at the peak of displacement. Displaced women and children are mostly on their own, and families face the prospect of being split indefinitely. Those Ukrainians who do not cross international borders but are displaced internally often find themselves in similarly challenging conditions.

Why would you support this project?

Circus is not just about entertainment, our Circus serves as a form of relief for those who are experiencing suffering, especially for children living in war conflict areas and/or disaster zones. Our Circus provides a temporary escape from the harsh realities, offering a brief moment of joy and happiness. The circus provides a space where children can forget their troubles, if only for a little while, and experience a sense of normalcy. They can laugh, be amazed, and be transported to a world of wonder. The circus has a unique ability to transcend cultural and language barriers. The acts are universal and can be appreciated by all, regardless of their background. It can bring people together, creating a sense of community in the face of adversity. The physicality and movement of the circus acts can help children release pent-up emotions and stress, providing a healthy outlet for their feelings.

The project needs your help and we are incredibly grateful for the support they have received thus far from generous sponsors, volunteers, and community organizations.
We got support from the Gölkel Foundation (https://www.goelkel-stiftung.de) but to make the project reality we need now to raise additional 15 000€. So for making this meaningful impact, they need YOUR help. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, helps them reach more children and create transformative experiences.

Thank You for your support and faith in the work we do.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

This year in July we visited already 3 cities in western Ukraine (Stryj, Drochobych, Stebnyk). In each of the cities we have conducted weekly circus workshops, made animations for children, prepared a show with children and also presented our own show for the local community.
About 200 children have been participating through the 3 weeks tour in the workshops of the Academy of Wonders, additionally 500 people from the local community have joined on the open trainings  and the circus shows.
We need Your support to continue to spread the magic of circus to the Ukrainian children.

We will spread the budget on:
Transportation
Food & Accommodation
Circus materials
Insurance
Decoration
Lights and Sound equipment
Allowance for the Ukrainian Students
Travel costs of the team
