Alice tries blind dating after her best friend recommends it to her, to distract her from the end of a very frustrating relationship.
After several unsuccessful blind dates with cliché online dating guys, she has high expectations for a guy named Alex. The problem is, it turns out that Alex is not a guy. She is a girl.
Despite that, Alice falls in love with Alex on first sight, even though she thought she was straight. Alice has to find out if her love for Alex is enough for her to let loose and change herself to commit to this relationship.
The story of our short film is timeless and the topic is becoming more and more important in today's zeitgeist. Sometimes, these kind of experiences are not that easy to handle. How do you handle a situation like that? What do those feelings mean? With this short film we want to give a voice to all those, who are making new experiences and learning about themselves every day. Plus, is there anything more beautiful than true love?
With LGBT we are not only addressing a very current and important topic, this film is also a romantic dramedy in its purest form. Two adults are on a journey to discover themselves, with one of them just beginning it.
The main target group of the film is between 18 and 29 years old, but the story can easily address younger or older viewers as well, because somewhere, all of us are still learning who we are, trying out dating apps and looking for our one true love.
Since the project is funded solely through our own money and donations, we need your help to reach our goal!
As students we're still at the beginning of our careers, so we hope that this film will be a step in the right direction. The project lies close to all our hearts and we would be very grateful if we would get to realize it with your help!
100% of the money will be put into the project. Even though all members of the team are working on this voluntarily and are not getting paid, a project like this still comes with a lot of expenses. From location fees to insurance, through to the daily catering, every cent will be put into this project to get the highest quality film, while also maintaining the best possible working environment on set.
Until I Met Alex is the first big extracurricular short film project of three students from the Medienakademie in Hamburg: Alexandre Weber (writer, director), Leonard Popp (director of photography) and Saskia Sperfeld (production manager).
The three will be supported by experienced actors and a crew of fellow students, with whom they worked on other projects, as well as some professionals with years of experience in the film making business.
