Vétomaten stories : Carmen, the comedian
"Hello my name is Carmen. I come from Lebanon! You’ve probably already seen me or at least heard my voice somewhere in the city ;)
The first time I came to Vetomat was 4 years ago, it was an open stage night (AKW) and I performed a short comedy set there. The Veto crew (shout out to Jani), loved the idea of standup comedy and encouraged me to organize a comedy event there. And that’s how Comedy auf Deuglish was born. Every third Saturday of each month & for the last 4 years, the Deuglish ritual begins: preparations start at 5pm: sound, amp, mic, chairs, banks, stage, back stage, check check check, then I start panicking: oh no one is gonna come … BAM It’s 8pm, the excitement is getting higher, people are waiting outside, All right: Open the doors and let’s give them one hell of a show y’all!
Vetomat is for me this warm open living room that gave me the chance of achieving one of my proudest accomplishments in life so far and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without all the amazing Vetomaten! Please keep on supporting this project! It means a lot to us!"
