Vétomat - an extended Living Room in your Hood

Vétomat is at the same time a collective, a cultural space and a screen printing workshop. Together, we share the passion to actively help in shaping our neighborhood and making art accessible to all! All events take place free-of-charge; operating costs are covered by donations, business expenses and membership amounts. We promote young artists by making our rooms available to them and by supporting them with the organization of their events. Since as a collective we work on a volunteer basis, we can offer our space to projects that have no financial support or run on a low budget basis.

We want to contribute to making Friedrichshain more colorful and joyful! That’s why we regularly organize many different, interesting and exciting events and support projects such as:

• theater
• screenprinting workshops
• art exhibitions
• comedy
• chill out - movie space
• open stage
• concerts
• game nights
• and much more!

Our rent contract at the previous location didn’t get renewed so we had to move places. Luckily, we were able to find a new home for the Vétomat at the Wühlischstraße 42 in Friedrichshain. Since then we’ve been working very hard to make the new space cozy and reinstall our program. BUT, we are unable to begin some expensive construction, such as sound proofing our rooms, installing water pipeline connections for the screen printing workshop, ventilation and a small kitchen. Our resources are limited, so now we need your support to get Vetomat ready for at least another 10 years!

Vétomat stands for the fact that together we can make a lot of things happen even if they seem impossible at the start.

We want to continue doing all these amazing activities for the next 10 years and you can help us in achieving this goal!

Vetomat is for you, if you are an artist, an amateur crafty person, love movies, think of yourself as an average joe or jane, are an original or adopted berliner, were born on one of the seven continents, came here from the Venus, are very young, or very, very old. Anything goes!

By working together, there is almost nothing we can’t do! Let us:

In order to make our space fit and ready for the next 10 years and to be able to extend our offerings, we urgently need to undertake the construction activities listed below. We will try to do as much as we can ourselves. Only when our own Know-How is insufficient to get us where we want to be, will we seek professional support

The most urgent project is the sound proofing one. We got great neighbors in the building, but the walls are as thin as paper. If we reach 7.000€ we will be able to implement a soundproofing system and our neighbors will be endlessly grateful. In addition: we'll also able to continue in providing you with lots of awesome, cultural and artistic events!

• 7.000€ Once we reach this funding threshold, we will be able to install sound proofing for the event space. Our neighbors will be forever grateful to you and we will also be able to invite you to a lot more exciting shows.
• 9.800€ Full speed ahead! Thanks to you, we will be able to install water supply, drainage, sound insulation and high voltage electricity[/] for the screen printing workshop !
• 13.250€ Let there be air! Our ventilation system becomes a reality! Countless guests will be able to take a deep breath again and our smoker friends get their own little space!
• 15.300€ Dinner is served! We are building a mobile kitchen! You may not know it but we like to cook - not just for ourselves but also for all of you. We will make our construction plans available anyone who is interested. The plans will be available as “Open Source”. (Be sure to take a look also at the “Kitchen Patron Saint” award).
• 16.500€ Where can you eat your delicious meal prepared on a mobile kitchen better than on a mobile bar? The construction plans will also be available as “Open Source”.
