Crowdfunding since 2010

Our vision is to provide people with a sustainable solution for safe drinking water.

800 million people worldwide do not have access to safe drinking water. We want to establish a sustainable and economical solution to help these people. Our project is centered on a water filter made out of clay and other local resources, which is able to remove 99.9 % of bacteria from contaminated water. Our pilot project in Kibwigwa creates jobs through small businesses which build and sell these filters for a fair price. Thus, more and more people gain access to safe drinking water.

What is this project all about?

Problem
Every day more than 10,000 people die due to contaminated water. Almost 800 million people worldwide don't have access to safe drinking water. They lack the financial resources and knowledge to break free from this cycle of sickness and poverty.

Solution
A water filter, made out of ecological and locally sourced ingredients. We have developed a sustainable business concept which enables unemployed people to build and sell water filters at an affordable price. At the same time we are organising workshops in public places like schools and churches to raise awareness for the importance of safe drinking water.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

Target group
Our target group is all people living in developing countries without access to safe drinking water. In our pilot project the target group consists of the inhabitants of Kibwigwa in Tanzania. As we have learned through many personal conversations during our first two journeys to the country, their main needs are access to safe drinking water and better economic perspectives.

Project goal
In our pilot project we seek to establish the production and sale of the waterfilters as an independent, sustainable business. At the same time we aim to have the workshops about water hygiene to be organized in a self-sustaining manner. Thus, we aspire to empower all people in our pilot region to gain access to safe drinking water by using our waterfilter.
So far we have educated two budding entrepreneurs in constructing and selling the water filters, and have opened a waterfilter shop. Our goal for our next travels to Tanzania in March 2016 is to train even more people, strengthen the marketing of our already existing shop and open yet another store to sell waterfilters.

Why would you support this project?

With our waterfilter we have developed a sustainable concept to rid contaminated water of dangerous bacteria. The filter not only provides people with access to safe drinking water, but on top of that it also creates jobs and new perspectives.

To implement our project successfully and to help even more people we need your support. Be a part of it! Help us to achieve our vision and provide people with safe drinking water.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

With your support we will educate our project partners on-site in Tanzania and train even more people in constructing the waterfilters. Thus, we can implement our vision of a sustainable social business together and give the people in Kibwigwa access to safe drinking water and new perspectives in their lives.
With this successful first step, we will be well on our way to bringing this project to help other people in need of safe drinking water all around the world! Help to solve one of our planet's biggest problems - together!

Who are the people behind the project?

We are a team of dedicated students from Munich with various academic backgrounds. Our aim is to make the world a better place by empowering disadvantaged people through a sustainable entrepreneurial approach, thereby enabling them to live a better life!
