With 10.000 euros we’ll get quite far. We can buy all the material and send 2-3 experienced helpers to San Luis to build the park.
Make kids skate!
In order to get more kids off the street and onto some skateboards, we need to build a public skatepark in San Luis. Get one of the boards or any of the other offers to help fund the skatepark.
The goal is the construction of a public skatepark in a poverty stricken area of Santo Domingo. Here, skateboarding courses can be offered to children and youngsters. Because of time and money, they were previously denied this privilege or had to use the school's basketball court.
When you become part of Wheel2Wall, you will not only receive a high-quality work of art, you will also help to improve the living conditions of many young people. Joy of life, good health, and lasting friendship are the driving factors for the feeling of freedom and self-determination -- something the kids can enjoy thanks to San Skate.
100% of the proceeds of this Startnext campaign and the Wheel2Wall exhibition in Berlin go to the construction of the skate park.
The largest part of the money is required for acquiring the material and renting the construction machines. We’ll also need tickets for a team of two to four people to fly out and coordinate the construction on site. Without a civil engineer and experienced construction workers, nothing will get done. We also need money to protect the construction site against theft. If any money is left over, we’ll buy the kids some better equipment.
To implement this, we rely on voluntary help in the form of work and in-kind donations - starting with the boards and promotional material all the way to the planning and construction of the park. A plot of land is already available to us.
There are many contributors to such a remarkable project. On location, San Skate runs the courses with the Tropical Skate School. San Skate is in turn part of the SuTra childcare centre. Betonlandschaften.de supports the planning and construction of the park. In Berlin, the agency Knorke takes care of the project coordination. The Wirtschaftsjunioren Berlin (JCI Berlin) kindly provide their network and contacts. Not to forget: The many in-kind donations from companies and above all the works of the participating artists.
