Crowdfunding since 2010

The "cloud funding" for local, sustainable vegetable cultivation on the roofs of Dresden.

Hi, we are your Wolkenfarm e. V. and we want to go to the top - to the roof! With Vertical Farming we bring healthy, homegrown fruits and vegetables to Dresden and save 90% water compared to conventional farming methods. Help us build our rooftop farm and collect climate protection karma points in the process. As a voluntary association, we are happy about any donation, no matter how small. What vegetable wouldn't love to grow with a view of the Frauenkirche or Semperoper?

What is this project all about?

Our vision is to grow regional fruits and vegetables in a water-saving and sustainable way, as well as make them available to everyone, by bringing agriculture from the countryside to the city and reimagining it.

With Vertical Farming, we want to make cities greener again and say "Goodbye" to plastic packaging, food waste and long delivery routes. Our plan is to plant mainly unused flat roofs, turning them into rooftop farms. Hence our name Wolkenfarm.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

A pilot project for Dresden:

Vertical Farming is hardly known in Germany so far and that's exactly what we want to change! Our hometown Dresden is the perfect starting point to grow locally and thus drastically reduce the impact of food supply chains and positively influence CO2 consumption.
Be part of this pilot project!

Objective and target group:

The focus of Wolkenfarm e. V. is climate protection and the promotion of a community that supports this objective and wants to make it sustainable.

Anyone who shares our sustainable values and is interested in an open-hearted, respectful exchange and togetherness, as well as being enthusiastic about innovative cultivation methods, is in the right place with us.

Our farm will use up to 90% less water than traditional agriculture, due to a recirculation system that collects the water and redistributes it to the plants.

At the same time, we contribute to biodiversity with our concept, as our cultivation method works on unused urban areas and thus protects original ecosystems.

Why would you support this project?

  • You have a desire for delicious, healthy fruits & vegetables?
  • You want to support regional, sustainable production?
  • You want to watch your lettuce grow and harvest it yourself?
  • You want to spend your money on meaningful things and invest in the future?
  • You want to collect not only karma points, but also lots of vitamins?

Then you've come to the right place!

Our healthy Wolkenfarm foods give everyone access to fresh and sustainable produce - all without the hassle of packaging or waste from oversupply.

And honestly, what vegetable wouldn't want to grow and thrive with a faraway view of the Frauenkirche or Semperoper?

Support us today in building up the association or even become a member to call your share of the harvest your own tomorrow.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

  • Financing of the foundation of the association like registration in the register of associations, notary public
  • Financing of a total of 10 plant towers including tanks and a mixing battery as well as a construction against weathering
  • Purchase of planting tables to grow seedlings
  • Purchase of seeds
  • Operating costs of the Wolkenfarm on a roof

.

Who are the people behind the project?

Behind Wolkenfarm is a team of people who couldn't be more different. Nevertheless, we all have something in common: the desire to live more sustainably, to improve the urban climate, and to do something for our environment in the long term.

We currently have 12 members, including Franziska Krone and Charlotte Dorn as honorary board members.
