With this goal, we want to prove that through our talents we can raise part of the large sum we need to save Zuhause.
The Zuhause Project is an initiative by Zuhause e.V., focused on creating a sustainable, cultural, and creative space in Berlin's Kindl Areal. To secure the location and expand its offerings, the association plans to establish a cooperative, purchase the Vollgut Berlin building, and further develop it.
The extensive development project needs an investment of 60 m. EUR overall. As a member of the cooperative Vollgut e.G., Zuhause e.V. is tasked with raising 300.000 EUR of which its members have already funded more than 150.000 EUR as loans.
Simultaneously Zuhause e.V. has launched a private microcredit campaign at daszuhause.com/mikrokredit
The Zuhause e. V. is one of several parties on the Kindl Areal, all of which are interested in preserving and expanding the facilities and open spaces. In order to achieve this, the Edith Maryon Foundation has tasked the TRNSFRM eG with developing a concept, in collaboration with all stakeholders, that describes the transformation of this interest group into a cooperative (Vollgut e.G.). This allows for the takeover of the site for 99 years through a leasehold agreement, the purchase of the building, and sustainable development.
Since its inception in 2010, Zuhause e.V. has been at the forefront of fostering a vibrant community in the northern part of Neukölln. With a commitment to affordability and a strong emphasis on community, Zuhause e.V. has been a nurturing ground for freelance artists, providing them with an open space designed to encourage creativity and collaboration.
The ambitious plan for the Kindl Areal - including the building’s acquisition under hereditary building right (Erbbaurecht) and its renovation - is supported by a joint investment of around 60 million euros. The 6 million euros in equity capital required for this project will be shared among all parties involved, again highlighting the collaborative nature of this transformation.
The Zuhause e. V. will restructure an area of approximately 1000 square meters to create 11 studios, 10 rehearsal spaces, a communal workshop, and a multifunctional shared space – the specific details of which are yet to be determined.
Established in 2010, Zuhause e.V. has been a cornerstone for affordable artist workspaces and community-focused initiatives. Our association is dedicated to fostering synergy and accessibility to diverse cultural expressions.
The community garden, initiated by Zuhause e.V., serves as more than just another green space. It is an active venue for community engagement, offering workshops and events that promote cultural exchange.
