More about the Situation in Lebanon :

Lebanon is fighting a pandemic, an unprecedented economic crisis leading to inflation and famine and political unrest all at the same time. The ongoing protests that started in October 2019 are massive long lasting multi- sectarian demonstrations demanding to change :

  • corrupt government elite
  • dysfunctional national institutions
  • inadequate access to electricity and water
  • absence of basic services like trash removal
  • large scale unemployment.

Since October 2019 the local currency of the Lebanese Lira has lost 89 % of its value. And right now the inflation rate is ranked the 3rd highest in the world. If this would happen in Europe a butter that cost 2 euro in october currently costs 16 euro. The popluation in Lebanon is now on the brink of starvation with fears that the country will repeat the famine in 1918.

As if this is not enough to handle ON TOP of all that the Lebanese capital and our home Beirut was destroyed at a large scale by the catastrophic ammonium nitrate explosion on the 4th of August 2020. This is the largest non - nuclear explosion in recent history,
leaving over 300 000 people homeless, more then 5000 people injured and over 500 missing still counting... 150 dead still counting...

We and all of our family and friends are affected.

In order for donations not to end up in the corrupt system and be taken by the political elite we need to support local trustworthy NGO's ( like Foodblessed) to give aid to the people in need.

Now more than ever.

Was passiert mit dem Geld bei erfolgreicher Finanzierung?

What will the money be used for when we reach our goal?

All the money raised with this campaign (minus print and shipment) will be fully donated to the local NGO FoodBlessed.

FoodBlessed is a local hunger relief initiative run by a group of volunteers with a passion and will to fight hunger in Lebanon. Our mission combines environmental and social responsibility. We work with strategic partners –including food and non-food companies- through recovering surplus food from events, organizing food drives, and fundraiser events to collect food (which includes surplus perishable food and non-perishable food items) and distribute it to local non-profit partners in need. While we help other non-profits, our efforts divert food wastes for reuse and better serve under privileged communities.
