Why crowdfunding? We explain how we use the money
Gute Leute Magazine started as a “hobby project” born out of necessity and has so far mostly been powered by our love for Hamburg and the desire to make something great for its people. Now that the project has so wonderfully spiralled out of control, it made sense to us to get the community involved to give us a head start before we hit the streets.
We are a small team of editors, designers and collaborators: some of us are students, others have full-time jobs, some even quit their jobs! Apart from the many hours we spend on making the magazine better, we have very few resources to invest in the project. But we love it and stick together because we believe in the idea.
The crowdfunding campaign is going to help us print the first issue of Gute Leute. We need this prototype to attract interest of local investors and companies that can advertise themselves on our pages. This in turn will support the production of the magazine for the next issues. Also, we believe in fair play and we pay the writers and designers that contribute to the magazine. It’s not a lot, just enough to say thank you.
One successful crowdfunding campaign can go a long way!
Now for the hard facts - how are we going to spend the money?
Gute Leute Magazine Issue #1
Printing 1,000 to 1,500 copies
Buying an ISBN nr.
Distribution and postage
Remuneration for writers and designers
Wordpress theme and web hosting (Wordpress)
Typography: we make use of two different font types and we need to buy them before we’re allowed to print them.
Marketing (brochures, business cards and other print material)
Crowdfunding: printing stickers, t-shirts and organizing the launch party
Many liters of coffee and mate
Now that you know the naked truth, would you give us a hand? Our campaign runs until October 6th!
