Let the games begin ! – Week 1
Dear friends and folks interested in beautiful, courageous or flexible Arts.
It's been 5 years since I discovered with 'ISLAND.experience' (my first ever crowd funding campaign here on Startnext) the marvellous support of an art loving community to enable my artistic project.
Now I'm here again, standing on another starting point of a project while realising how much effort I put into focussing
on the subject of Arts in general, the traditional art production and the contemporary art market and I'm regularly asking myself whether the belief of making one's living through art is a realistic one.
What am I about to do? In october I'll be heading towards another island, not Iceland but Venice, Italy this time – where I will be spending half a year at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Cannaregio and will be working voluntarily as an assistant in the school's printshop. This means working artistically and practically shoulder to shoulder with italian graphic students and International Artists in residence and diving deep into the mysteries and processes of analogue printing techniques.
The range of fields I'll be touching reach from traditional woodcut and japanese techniques, to metal etching and modern practices, to watercolor and monotype and over to the production of edible artist books.
Those tasks and possibilities waiting for me in situ, I will use to gain a more profound understanding of manual art making and technical reproduction and will be able to extend my manual skills and enrich my own art practice and print my own works.

Whichever kind of support you are willing and able to chose, I'll be extremely thankful for each and every shape, and already now I'm looking forward to produce tons of tiny letters and handmade postcards and shape them individually with little notes and drawings and to send them right your way.

So far I haven't found a place to stay and I'm glad about every little hint, that would help me change that and find a room in Cannaregio or the near surroundings.
