MONKYMAN / MANYMONKS Debut Album

Es geht um die Übersetzung der 16 Demo Songs in professionelle Musikproduktionen und somit den gesamten Recording Prozess im Studio. Hierfür lade ich Musiker*innen ein, die ausgewählte Instrumente live einspielen. Im Dreamhouse Studio gibt es alles was wir brauchen, um gemeinsam diese Aufnahmen zu produzieren. Weiterhin geht es um die Erstellung des Cover Artworks. Hierfür würde ich gerne mit der Fotografin Andrea Rojas und ihrem Bruder Jose Illustration zusammenarbeiten. Das Album soll von Zino Mikorey gemastert werden und anschließend auf Vinyl gepresst und zu euch nach Hause geschickt werden. Für die digitale Veröffentlichung wird mein Bruder Olaf eine Mini- Doku auf 16mm Film drehen, so dass es Material zur Vermarktung gibt.

Worum geht es für mich?

Ich arbeite schon seit mehr als 3 Jahren an den Demos für dieses Album und habe jetzt große Lust und sogar Zeit, es anständig aufzunehmen und fertigzustellen. Das Projekt wird unter dem Namen “MANYMONKS” veröffentlicht. Ich habe diese Entscheidung getroffen, um wieder mehr zu experimentieren, mir Freiraum beim Produzieren einzuräumen und nicht in alte Muster zu fallen. Wie “MANYMONKS” sagt, geht es in diesem Album um den künstlerischen Ausdruck multipler musikalischer Persönlichkeiten, die am Ende aber alle einem Menschen innewohnen. Wir alle haben etliche Charaktere in uns, die je nach Situation unsere Richtung und unsere Entscheidungen beeinflussen. Für mich ist das auch in der Musik der Fall. Jeder Beat, jedes Musikstück, jede Stimmung verlangt nach einem passenden Charakter, um die Komposition zu unterstützen. Es ist ein Produzentenalbum, auf dem ich meine Liebe zu diversen Musikrichtungen zum Ausdruck bringe. Das Album ist ein Versuch, mich keinen Limitationen durch mich selbst stellen zu müssen.

It's about the translation of the 16 demo songs into professional songs, and thus the entire recording process in the studio. For this, I invite musicians to play selected instruments live. At Dreamhouse Studio, we have everything we need to produce these recordings together. Additionally, it involves creating the cover artwork. I would like to collaborate with the photographer Andrea Rojas and her brother Jose Illustration for this. The album will be mastered by Zino Mikorey and then pressed on vinyl and sent to your homes. For the digital release, my brother Olaf will shoot a mini-documentary on 16mm, providing material for marketing.

What does it mean to me?

I have been working on the demos for this album for over 3 years, and now I have a strong desire and even the time to record and finish it properly. The project will be released under the name "MANYMONKS." I made this decision to experiment more, give myself creative freedom in producing, and not fall into old patterns. As the name "MANYMONKS" suggests, this album is about the artistic expression of multiple musical personalities, all residing within one individual. We all have various characters within us that influence our direction and decisions depending on the situation. For me, this also applies to music. Every beat, every piece of music, and every mood requires a suitable character to support the composition. It is a producer's album where I express my love for various music genres. The album is an attempt not to impose limitations on myself.

Mein persönliches Ziel ist es, ein ehrliches Album zu produzieren, das die Essenz meiner künstlerischen Reise zu diesem Zeitpunkt verkörpert.

"Der Planet schläft, und das ist die Schuld der Musiker, die sich selbst untreu sind."

Meine Zielgruppe sind Alle, die Sound lieben und gerne Musik hören. Alle Suchenden. Alle, die Sehnsucht haben, nach dem Moment der Verschmelzung.

My personal goal is to produce an honest album that embodies the essence of my artistic journey at this moment.

My target audience is everyone who loves sound and enjoys listening to music. All seekers. All those who long for the moment of fusion.

Es funktioniert wie ein Vorschuss von einem Label. Du ermöglicht mir die Aufnahme und Erstellung des Albums und bekommst im Gegenzug ein mit Liebe gestaltetes zeitloses Produkt und viele andere Belohnungen, die du dir aussuchen kannst.
Ich versuche es auf diesem Weg weil ich glaube, dass für dieses Album allein die Musik zwischen den Hörer*innen und dem Künstler stehen soll. Es ist der direkte Weg, Wertschätzung durch Wertschöpfung zu erfahren und andersrum. Viele wissen, wie schwer es ist für unabhängige Künstler*innen, mit der Musik Geld zu verdienen. Ein erfolgreiches Crowdfunding motiviert mich weiter Musik zu machen und ist, wie ich finde, generell ein schöner Weg, der Musik und ihren Machern wieder etwas mehr Wert und Wertschätzung zu verleihen.

It works like an advance from a label. You enable me to record and create the album, and in return, you receive a lovingly crafted timeless product and many other rewards that you can choose from.

I'm trying this approach because I believe that, for this album, the music should stand directly between the listeners and the artist. It's a direct way to experience appreciation through value creation and vice versa. Many know how challenging it is for independent artists to make money from their music. A successful crowdfunding campaign motivates me to keep making music and, in my opinion, is a beautiful way to give music and its makers a bit more value and appreciation again.

Alle Mittel, die darüber hinaus gesammelt werden, werde ich einsetzen für die Produktion von Musikvideos und die Planung einer Album Tour im Frühling 2024.
