AMPROFI FARMS must suvive.
Our father, -an Economist and MBA having lived for over 30 years in Germany, founded a family and worked for many years as an SAP consultant-, upon his decision to make a direct contribution to Ghana his country of birth, had a very good start with his project Amprofi Farms. His initial bountiful success in 2016 was unfortunately followed by a catastrophy as a result of his being sold non-viable seed ( ref http://citifmonline.com/2018/03/01/farmers-lament-losses-poor-seeds-supply/).
As a result of the total crop loss, Amprofi Farms has no resources for the next season and is in urgent need of financial assistance.
What is Amprofi Farms? Our father and his workers cultivate maize and cassava on 20 hectares of land he has leased in Wenchi-Branam. The harvest is sold to local traders. They have both white and yellow maize. The white maize can be processed into corn meal and used for different dishes, the yellow is generally processed into poultry feed.
He cooperates with a Gari factory in a nearby town. Supplies them with cassava which is then peeled, grated, fermented, dried and finally roasted. The granulated product called Gari (like the cassava itself and also the maize) is part of the basic food ingredients and with the addition of water to it, is eaten with spicy sauces or sweet. His business partner at the factory organizes the production and sale of the Gari and retains 10% of the sales revenue.
.Amprofi Farms supports Ghana´s economy with the people directly in Ghana, cooperates with the small processing and trading organizations and is a positive example for regional development in providing for Jobs&Food.
Our objectives are:
-to ensure food security
-to create jobs in the community (especially for young men and women)
-to curb rural-urban migration
It is our father`s long term goal to be a role model for young entrepeneurs and to motivate them to invest their time and energy in their beautiful country.
Our father offers conducive working environment for his workers, provides meals during working hours and organizes X'mas parties for the children in the community and he is more than willing to make his expenditure and income transparent.
Amprofi Farms is set to mitigate dependency on food import and rural migration that stems from the neo-liberal world economic system.
In 2017 our father had a complete crop loss because he was sold poor, von-viable seeds ( ref http://citifmonline.com/2018/03/01/farmers-lament-losses-poor-seeds-supply/). Upon all the extensive work phases - from tree felling to ploughing, through to sowing- the seeds hardly germinated and the little that sprouted shrivelled. After his initial success as a small-scale farmer (harvesting 40 metric tonnes of maize) he was highly motivated and invested all the revenue from 2016 and his surplus funds from Germany in the new season.
With your support you give Amprofi Farms the chance to continue with its solidary farming. You would be part of a Movement, and together we see to it that no one with such a laudable idea is left alone when he experiences a setback not of his making. We want to demonstrate that when many people come together, they can make an impact. We would like, once more to emphasize that the focus is not on profit. We may not be able to compensate you financially but we invite you to follow Amprofi Farms on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Amprofigood or visit the farm in Ghana. A project documentation in pdf format shall be made available at the end of the farming season.
If -with your support- we manage to get the funds together, Amprofi Farms shall be sustained. A reliable seeds supplier has been identified. Our father and his workers will be able to start a new cycle this summer and harvest the maize at the end of the year.
With the income and the remaining donations, our Dad intends to diversify into cashew farming. This diversification will contribute to securing the existence of Amprofi Farms, as employer and role model in the Brong Ahafo Region, in the long term.
If this project succeeds, we would like to celebrate it with all our supporters in spring 2019.
The committed workers of Amprofi Farms are the backbone of the project.
And we his family support Amprofi Farms wholeheartedly in kind and in deed.
First and foremost Francis, who had the idea and the courage to start an enterprise that gives the region and the country a bouyancy, supports this project and it means a lot to him that you are part of it.
