Der Film beschreibt den Alltag eines SS-Offiziers. Dieser verfolgt polnische Zwangsarbeiter, die sich auf ein Liebesverhältnis mit einer Deutschen eingelassen haben. Darüber hinaus spiegelt der Film den Mikrokosmos eines bayerischen Dorfes zur Zeit des Nationalsozialismus wieder.
